ROCKFISH DERBY

 

                    

OFFICIAL RULES

 

 

1. ELIGIBLE SPECIES: ROCKFISH, STRIPED BASS, STRIPER

 

2. ENTRY FEES:  The entry fees will be $25 per angler, $15 per youth (12 and under).

3. ENTRY FORMS:  The entry form must be completed in it’s entirety by all registered derby participants.

 

4. ENTRY DEADLINES:  All pre-registration entries must be received by December 2, 2011. Entries received before November 19, 2011 will be placed into a special drawing. 

5. ANGLERS MEETING: Friday December 2, 2011 at 6:30pm. Dinner will be served

 

5. PORT ASSIGNMENT:  Anglers choice however, all fish must be caught in local Virginia/Maryland waters, bayside or seaside.

6.  BOAT ANGLERS:  All persons on a boat must be paid tournament entrants.

 

7. FISHING HOURS:  Registered anglers may fish one or both tournament days.  Fishing will begin at 6 a.m. on December 3rd and end at 4 p.m. on December 4th.  No lines in the water before that time.

 

8. METHOD OF CATCH:  All fish must be caught by rod and reel or hand line.  All fish must be identifiable as to species and must not be cut, bitten, speared, shot or otherwise mutilated in any way.  All fish entered will be subject to any examinations judges deem necessary for the integrity of the tournament.

 

9.  WEIGH IN: Fish may be weighed in at the Atlantic Volunteer Fire Company during the   weigh in times of 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday and 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Fish caught on Saturday may be weighed on Sunday. All weigh-ins must be in line by last weigh in time. It is the responsibility of the anglers to synchronize with tournament time.  Each contestant will be allowed to enter the weigh-in line one time only each day with as many fish as he or she wishes. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

10. WEIGHING OF FISH:  Any fish may be inspected at the discretion of the weigh master or judges.

 

11. JUDGING TIES:  In the event of a tie, the fish weighed in first will be declared the winner.  All judge’s decisions will be final.

 

12.  WEATHER CONDITIONS:  Weather considerations will be the contestant’s choice; they will fish at their own discretion and accept full responsibility for their decisions.  Adverse weather developing after fishing has started will place the decision of whether or not to continue in the hands of the angler.  In the event that Saturday’s fishing is postponed, the tournament will resume on Sunday.  NO RAIN DATES.

 

13.  RULES VIOLATIONS:  Any violation of the tournament rules will be grounds for disqualification.  Questions not covered by the rules will be answered by the tournament committee.

 

14.  LIABILITY:  All boats shall adhere to all U.S. Coast Guard and state requirements/ regulations for boats their size.  Anglers must comply with all state and federal laws regarding the size and number of fish caught.  Neither the Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company Inc., its volunteers or tournament committee members will be responsible for any angler who fails to comply with tournament rules, nor will they assume any liability for personal injury, property loss or damage during the duration of this event.
